One
Holy Night
On
a starlit night many
years ago
a humble girl gave
birth.
In the midst of a stable
so dreary and dark
God's Son came to earth.
It seems so strange He
should arrive
in this most unusual
way.
Why should the King of
all the earth
sleep first on a bed of
hay?
No
one in the stable could
possibly see
those angels that sang
in the sky.
They heard the soft
noises of cattle and
sheep
and heard the Baby cry.
They could not know of
those great wise men
traveling to see this
King.
All they could see was
this beautiful Child
Who somehow made their
hearts sing.
In
the quiet and dark they
had no idea
that the whole world
would change that night.
But the shepherds came
to worship and praise
and the glorious star
shone bright.
To the world,
unexpected, Messiah had
come
in His own inscrutable
way.
Those who were looking
could see who He was
and rejoice in this
marvelous day.
Can
we understand, with our
lives crowded full
that this Baby was
really a King?
Can we open our eyes and
look long on His face
and allow Him to touch
our heartstrings,
until a song rises,
melodious, strong
in praises that reach
heaven's throne?
Then we know without
doubt that this Child is
a King
and He'll never leave us
alone.

May
this Christmas
season be a time
of blessing and
peace to
you. God is
truly the joy of
our lives, the
strength in our
weakness, our
comfort in
sorrow and the
Song of our
Spirit.
May He be
praised forever! |
